Quantitative research
Quantitative research means an approach in empirical research. The goal is to receive quantifiable information using standardised questions and answers. One example of this is surveys whereby the test subjects can already select answers from the alternatives given.
Quantitative data can be collected efficiency in large samples and processed with statistical methods.
This suggests that quantitative research is particularly suitable for achieving generalised, representative results, to describe the status-quo in a specific area and to identify possible connections. Quantitative research is suitable for testing hypotheses generated in advance.
The precondition for quantitative research is however previous knowledge about the research subject and possible answers of test subjects. If required, qualitative [»] and quantitative research can be conducted in succession or in combined models.
